Spend a week at La Cascade, a charmingly restored mill house situated in the village of Durfort in southwestern France. The days will be a blend of art making, journal keeping, delicious meals and excursions to nearby points of interest. This area of France offers quaint shops to explore, a bustling weekend food market in Revel, Sunday afternoon vide greniers (flea markets), a sleepy hilltop village devoted to the art of bookmaking, as well as the historic towns of Toulouse, Carcassonne and Albi, home to the Toulouse-Lautrec museum.

During the week we'll explore collage making in an intuitive yet directed fashion. Projects will include working on small canvases and wooden panels, as well as painting our own papers and dying muslin ribbon. We will also create our own personalized 'idea journal, to serve as an ongoing receptacle for collecting sketches, thoughts, snippets of poetry, paper ephemera and more. There will be instruction on the use of beeswax as a layering medium and final glaze, as well as its use as a backdrop for transfers.
Access to the studio is always available, yet in general, classes will be held each morning with afternoons left free for adventures...photo taking, an artist studio visit or local shopping. Evenings bring us back to dinner on the terrace with time for relaxation and a glass of wine.

Anna is passionate about all things French as evidenced by her personal work for the past twenty years. She is particularly fond of sharing insights from her book "Vintage Paper Crafts' and designs her classes to be inviting and supportive for all levels of experience.
